This is one of FABAC's favourite shows. Onsite accommodation is available at a very reasonable price so act now.

Lots of updates here.

Great news regarding a tour to Saint John June 4th

UPDATE:
I'll lead the charge. We can leave the Burton courthouse at 10:00AM, taking the scenic (and no longer flooded) 102 to the Westfield ferry.
A short drive of twenty or so minutes leaves us at the Kennebecasis ferry. Ralph-n-Karen are a few hundred metres from the terminal on the other side.
Bob E.

Destination is 935 Kennebecasis Drive. Phone Ralph at 642 1145 or cell 647 7436 if you get lost or have questions.

Ralph H. says, "The Reversing falls restaurant is still not open."

However, Ralph went on to say:

Love to see the FABAC gang invade the place and would suggest a pot luck if that works for the bunch.  We will provide the burgers and beer and if a few folks brought some salad, potato chips and desserts and anything else, we could have a right jolly time.  River is right here for those that enjoy cliff diving into frigging cold water, and otherwise, just chill out on the deck and patio.
I will get the Ragtops and Rust Garage in tip top shape for the visit.

***********************************************

So, with that invitation, I recommend that we go with Ralph's suggestion/invitation.
More details will follow and I'll send out a poll later to see who plans to go and what they can bring to the pot luck. My recollection was that we travel the morning with the plan to eat lunch there and head home later in the afternoon. Feel free to make suggestions or corrections by replying to this post.
Circle June 4th on your calendars for this event.

Report on May 17 FABAC Meeting

Our monthly get together for May saw a sizable turnout.  It seems that everyone survived the flood, although the pre-dinner tour had to be cancelled due to several of the roads still being under water.
  • Again, Kelvin was thanked for the St Georges Day party.  The spectacle of  the  'Barfing Dog' will live on in FABAC lore.
  • The breakfast get togethers continue to be a rousing success and thanks were extended to Phil.  They will continue on an ad hoc basis and members are reminded to check the website frequently.
  • John B was thanked for his work in organizing the first tour.  It was cancelled due to flood waters still covering some of the planned route.
  • Tim-n-Debbie were unable to attend due to a hopefully not nasty flue bug.  Tim has promised us the story of the blue E-Type's appearance in Freddy 25 years ago.
  • There was much discussion on the upcoming Windsor car show with Larry leading the charge to take a group on the ferry.  We (someone?) will look into accommodations in Saint John now that Ralph's place has been sold.
  • There will be a July 1st parade in Stanley with more details being announced as the date draws closer.
  • There was considerable discussion on the possibility of an award sponsored by us to be presented at the Windsor show.   The incentive is to provide support for the show.  After a lot of discussion a vote was held.  The consensus was that our continued attendance was more than enough support.  We DID agree to donate a gift basket of New Brunswick items to be given at the banquet. Gary will check with the show organizers.
  • A tour to Minister's Island was discussed as were other tours.
  • Bob E. will contact Ralph and arrange a tour to the new Reversing Falls restaurant and a visit to Ralph and Karen's new place. The planned date is the 4th of June.
  • Bob (no-longer-2CV-Bob) mentioned a car show in Woodstock on the 11th of June.  Details will follow.
  • Joe won John's quiz—yet again—despite a three point handicap.
  • The next meeting will be at Sam Snead's (upstairs) on the 21st of June.
The club welcomed a long lost member back to the fold in the name of Henning Theorin.

The pre-dinner tour around the lake has been cancelled as John reports there is water over the road in some spots. However, the meeting is still on due to location on high ground at the Riverside Resort at Mactaquac.

Meeting Wednesday 17th with a nice option of a tour around the lake beforehand.

FABAC meeting at the Riverside Resort at Mactaquac 5:30.
Why not join John at 2:30 before the meeting? The weather looks promising.

Proposed is a 112-mile/188 kms run around Grand Lake prior to May’s dinner meeting at Riverside Resort Restaurant. Starting from the Ramada Inn, the route would take in Minto and Chipman before returning to Fredericton and the restaurant.. There would be a pit stop, some en route questions and even a prize or two. Purpose of the tour would be to give our classic cars a spring-time airing, so it would only be run if the weather was rain-free and sunny. I’ve just traveled the picturesque route and found road conditions generally good with a few exceptions here and there.

The tour, which I would lead, would start from the Ramada Inn at 2:30 pm sharp and aim to finish before 5:30 pm. Please use the website’s Comments section to sign up now for this proposed new good-weather event. Sign-up deadline: Noon May 16th.
