A request for assistance from Kelvin

Update: All looked after. Thanks.

My trailer comes out of storage tomorrow ( Saturday ) and for some reason there  is not a rental truck available in the city. I wonder if you could put a message on the web site asking members if they have a pick up, and half an hour to spare sometime Sat or Sun to pick up my trailer from the Exhibition grounds and bring it back to my house. I would be eternally grateful to anyone who can help me out.

Thanks a million
Kelvin

PS trailer is 20' long and weighs about 3500lbs

Report on Dumfries Maple Run

Twenty FABACians (Sunday, May 25th) rode Highway 102 in a variety of modern vehicles (no LBCs!) to the Dumfries Sugar Shack. Once there, the group found  the shack’s Pancake House restaurant with picnic table style seating filled by other hungry devotees of pancakes, sausages and maple syrup. With many apologies for the wait from the staff (the restaurant operates on a first served basis and does not take reservations), the group was eventually seated and enjoyed the food and the usual FABAC companionship. Later, some members explored the modern sugar shack, while others decided to head for home before a sudden snow squall developed into something that required shoveling. Thanks go to Jim B. for an excellent run.

 NEXT CLUB MEETING
Wednesday April 18th, 5.45 pm: Montana’s Restaurant (off Knowledge Park Drive)

- John B.
Here are a couple of very nice British cars that belong to a friend of an aquaintance of ours that are for sale. They belong to Emmy Caldwell (Mini) and her dad (MGB). Interested parties should contact Emmy at phone number 1 780 719 1507 or email address emmycaldwell@gmail.com.

I have no financial interest in the sale of these vehicles, just trying to get the word out to those that may have an interest.

Hi David

Well the mail came today and it included my monthly dose of inspiration with the arrival of MGA! The official magazine of the North American MGA Register.  I slipped it out of the package and to my surprise there on the cover no less is a very handsome Glacier Blue  MGA parked at the Caves in St. Martins.  The plate indicated it was from British Columbia so I knew right away it was Steve Kaufman who with his friend and partners took part in an epic 18,000 mile, four month odyssey with an MGA and an MGB that took them from coast to coast and back.  I was able to chat with them a couple times via email and had the Homeport welcome mat out for them but timing did not work out and they sailed thru here pretty quick.

Really great to see our little piece of heaven on the cover of this great rag even if they did put St. Martins in Nova Scotia and not New Brunswick.

A bit of humour

Siamese twins walk into a bar in Toronto and park themselves on a bar stool.
One of them says to the bartender, "Don't mind us; as you can see, we're joined side by side at the hip. I'm John, he's Jim. Two Molson Canadian beers, draft please."
The bartender, feeling slightly awkward, tries to make polite conversation while pouring the beers. "Been on holiday yet, boys"?
"Off to England next month," says John. "We go to England every year, rent a car and drive for miles. Don't we, Jim?" Jim agrees.
"Ah, England!" says the bartender. "Wonderful country ...the history, the beer, the culture..."
"Nah, we don't like that British crap," says John. "Hamburgers and Molson's beer, that's us, eh Jim? And we can't stand the English - they're so arrogant and rude."
"So why keep going to England?" asks the bartender.
"It's the only chance Jim gets to drive."

FABAC Celebrates Spring at Dumfries Maples

I have organized a Sugarbush and Pancake House event at Dumfries Maples, Civic # 7520 Route 102 North. We will enjoy lunch and sweets on Sunday, March 25th rain or shine.

We will gather at Tim Hortons (Esso Bypass) Old Woodstock Rd. at 12:00 noon and leave at 12:30 sharp via Route 102 North. Our travel time will be about 40 minutes and you drive whatever.

If you are planning on attending please RSVP by posting on comments so I can give the cook an idea of how many will be in our group.

Payment is cash only and they don't take reservations on week-ends.
Their site is www.dumfriesmaples.ca  and describes their setup very well.

Hi David;
This is just about as far from LBCs as you could get, but an interesting bit of car history!

FABAC St. Paddy's Party at The Woodfords Sat., March 10th

Gary and Barb A are off to Florida and Gary has asked me to stand in for our next brief club meeting.
You know by now that Jim and Lorraine have generously offered to host another annual St. Patrick's Party at their home:
159 Mactaquac Heights,
Keswick Ridge
Jim is inviting extra minstrels to entertain with songs and jigs, plus David N. who does it all.
Lorraine will be judging those with the most green St. Patrick's apparel both inside and out and presenting a grand first prize.
Dianne Earl holds the most green costume wins to date, so perhaps it is time to challenge her.
This will be a BYOB and pot luck event knowing everyone has a favorite Irish dish.
So we shall see you around 6:00 PM at Jim and Lorraine's on Saturday, March 10th.
